i’m not much into politics…
yet somehow…when i saw this in the news…i felt so sad…
it’s about the untimely death of congressman crispin beltran…
he is (was) was a filipino politician and a labor leader..a critic of president gloria macapagal-arroyo.
as a member of 13th congress of the philippines with the anakpawis or the ‘toiling masses partylist’ and former chair of kilusang mayo uno (kmu), a militant and progressive labor movement, he had been a major figure in contemporary filipino history.
he was one of the poor congressmen, having a net worth of P27,000. having said that, i believe that his purpose in entering politics to help his countymen…especially the poor…
the cause of his death…as silly as it may seem, is because he is fixing the roof of his house. a 75 year old man…not to mention a congressman…doing household chores…just shows much on how he lives (lived) his life..
when his house was featured…i was overwhelmed on how simple his life is…ordinary…yet so special to many…
click on this lovely article about “ka bel”
for some reason…i can’t help being sad…somehow, i feel the loss…
condolences to his family…
ciao
