here are the steps that you need to do to access the web interface utility of wap4400n…

  • connect the computer to the ethernet port of the wap4400n
  • set static ip to the computer. make sure that it will be on the range 192.168.1.xxx.  remember not to use 192.168.1.245 since that is the ip address of the wireless access point.
  • open internet explorer window and type http://192.168.1.245. leave the username blank and type admin on the password.

if that doesn’t work, try the following…

  • reset the wireless access point for thirty seconds.  use a pen or a clip in holding the reset button
  • disable security programs that are installed in your computer (especially firewalls)
  • use another ethernet cable
  • force the card to 10 mbps half duplex
  • try to ping the access point (run cmd…type ping 192.168.1.245)…if it is getting a reply…checked the browser settings.  make sure that it is on never dial a connection and that there are no proxy servers set.
  • if it still doesn’t work, use another computer

also check if the powerlight on the device is on solid.  if it is blinking, it means that it’s either a firmware or hardware problem.  it is best to return the unit to the store or apply rma from linksys.

hope this helps…
